Camping cots are not only suitable for the obvious situations as camping. They can be used for unexpected guests who call in and end up staying the night. Some camp beds do have a cross bar. This may or may not be a problem for some people and their comfort so just check on that before you invest your money. Once again this may involve price but this is simply a matter of weighing up the purpose you want a camping cot for. Some cots because they are made of tough denier nylon are going to be resistant to abrasions, tears, scuffs, and punctures. Nylon is also lightweight and water resistant, it dries quickly, and is easy to clean with a damp cloth. However if you want a camping cot just to stash away in the cupboard for emergency stopovers then it may not warrant the expense of the more up market models.
